The white, the off white, the cream, the ivory or the...

...beige? Seems that's the only question folks ask these days as they wander the aisles of their local tile, floor, curtain or home wares shop. I am a self declared, vehement anti-beigist. Yes, I can hear you shouting something about the wall in the pic being a shade from the aforementioned colour family and yes, I'll admit I do have my exceptions. In the instance above, may I put it to you, would any other shade have enhanced the carnival of colours that is my necklace collection in quite the same way?? And just to add credence to my passionate argument against beige, may it be known that this same wall was once a deep shade of fuchsia.
This particular grrrrrr fest has come about after doing a little research into locating the mint green tiles I fancy for our up and coming new bathroom.
See, I was thinking bathroom, mint green, simple. But apparently no. We whipped around our local large green shed of hardware over the weekend to get a feel for what was available in the floor tile department and lo and behold, if you fancy beige with a grey fleck, you're in luck. If you'd prefer beige with a tan fleck, still in luck. If beige with a white fleck and ochre marbling is more your style, they have something for you, too. In fact it's dawning on me there may well be over sixty five million varieties of beige floor tile. Something for everyone...if beige is your thing.
Plan B. If in doubt Google it. Once again, pages upon pages upon pages of the most amazing array of beige. I think the closest I could find to a mint green floor tile was something of a mottled olive with a beige fleck. After scrolling more pages than I care to imagine I did the lolly, poked the X in the corner of the screen then huffed off to bed.
The place was shut when we went for a sticky on Saturday afternoon, but I'm holding high hopes for the local demolition yard. If it doesn't have exactly what I fancy, I'm sure I'll uncover a gem of some sort to boggle the brains of the tradie lucky enough to posess the skills to install it. Hmmmm, perhaps a quirky cabinet, something odd for a splash back or just the right pavers for my fantasy court yard.
My latest hunt is for a clever way to display my ever growing collection of perfumes. They are too pretty to remain trapped in a cabinet with the Savlon and dettol, and far too expensive to be within reach of squirty little fingers. I've been trawling my latest obsession (www.pinterest.com) for ideas and at this point I'm envisaging a picture rail level, wrap around shelf in the bathroom, perhaps with some kind of electric shock forcefield to deter mischievous fingers. But, if you've got a better idea??...
All this big scale, house style thinking has left me getting dressed in the dark, fishing for the standard jeans, hoodie and converse ensemble using only my left eye while the right is still deciding whether or not to wake up. But, Spring is here and I'm starting to look forward to the prospect of bare legs and new clogs. So here's my latest "I've got enough clothes. Really, I do" pic.

Shall we just quietly ignore that the clogs are brand new and I now have three pairs? I think we should also pretend there are not two new pairs of half price jeans sitting in a warehouse waiting to be posted to me.

It's turned out to be a big week in the land of buntyandsars. I started off feeling very sleep deprived due to much nocturnal coughing and thus not feeling like doing anything. It doesn't take long, but the momentum drops off after a bit of time away from buntyandsars. In fact I spent buntyandsars Thursday procrastinating with intermittent spurts of drawing in the style of a three year old with eye sight problems. I packed it all up early in the end, feeling useless and slack.
Later that night I got a message from a friend (check out the very lovely www.villahunter.com.au) telling me my colouring book was in Peppermint Magazine. Yes, that Peppermint Magazine! The cool one. The one available in all good newsagents. Still rather chuffed about it, can you tell?
I wrapped up the weekend with a trip out to Woodend to the lovely Sugar and Spice Market (www.sugarandspicechildrensmarket.blogspot.com) on Sunday.
Since I've been doing these high quality markets I feel like I've found my tribe. I love wandering around chatting to like minded ladies (and occasionally lads) and this one saw me parked next to the rather special Macaroon Kids (check them out on Facebook). Some lovely waffling was done to pass the time, so thank you! I also learnt much about using Facebook to develop a community around a brand, and I'd love to extend the potential with my own Facebook page so please offer your suggestions if you have some.
Now, hop across and "like" buntyandsars if you haven't already and I'll promise to give you regular interesting posts, pretty pictures and perhaps a competition in the near future....I shall ponder the prospects while you stay tuned...
