It's a cape...

...with a massive sparkly "M" on it. It stands for Mummy. Rock star Mummy. I had a great day yesterday. Any Mums reading this will recognize the significance of such a sweeping statement, because it's not often a day comes along without some catastrophe or other general mind numbing chaos when wrangling the world of under four year olds.
In my mind I was one of those Mum's with the sugary sweet, well behaved kids, perfectly groomed hair and a million miles of patience.
I shunted them into pushers and onto bikes in the sunny morning hours and off we troddled down yonder street with the view of knocking over the last few bits of my non-online Christmas shopping. Not a pleasant prospect given our history in retail environments as a family with small, non-shop savvy kids and my recent history of shopping online and wishing never to step foot amongst the masses ever again. It started badly with an early wee stop in a confined public convenience with two kids, a bike, a pusher and several other humans. But on we went with a striding into battle attitude.
We waltzed in to a major chain, sell everything shop in the hope of getting it all done in the one spot. Miraculously, we did. Big tick with an imaginary fat red texta. All the while with two children I hardly recognized. In fact, in hindsight I'm surprised I didn't deliver them to the customer service counter as lost children, because they certainly seemed nothing like my two. After a DVD stuff up and lengthy exchange process the jolly three of us sat in a cafe and had a civilized chat and cuppa with no counter climbing, under table crawling and not one, NOT ONE spilt drink. Insert flamboyant swish of superhero cape here.
We followed this up with a quick trip to see Santa and drop in some present hints while the exemplary behavior was fresh in everyone's mind before heading home. I even remembered to drop into Medicare for a form I've been planning to get for a couple of weeks. This is remarkable in itself as I claim to be still suffering an extended case of baby brain. Go me.
We filled the afternoon with unrestrained nudity (the kids) clam shell splashing, mud pie making and uninterrupted present wrapping (me). Even the garden finished the day with a leafy smile because the kids, bucket by bucket, lovingly emptied their whole paddling pool onto it. I didn't even shudder once at the muck, mess and slop.
See, rock star Mummy.

Today is likely to be my last buntyandsars Thursday for this year as I gear up for my double whammy Buninyong-Daylesford Saturday. That means today is filled with stock replenishing (and a bit of blogging on the side). There'll be lots of book binding and some brooch making, then i'll bundle together the last few batches of Christmas caravan cards. If you want anything buntyandsars for the tinselly season get along and see me at one or the other market on Saturday. Get some goodies for stocking stuffing, cards for your nearest and dearest and even some DIY garland making kits for some pre Christmas crafting. Yep, something for everyone. Ho, ho, ho and I'll see you there!
